What can you accomplish in 48 hours? Apparently, a lot. Matt Arevalo both co-founded his company, Loot Crate, and made a profit all within 48 hours. Team One was of course intrigued by this outcome and invited Matt Arevalo, co-founder and CXO of Loot Crate, to share his story at our Moonshot Speaker Series powered by Inc.
Loot Crate is a monthly subscription service that sends well-known pop culture franchise merchandise right to your door. Loot Crate creates exclusive collectibles, apparel and gear from Marvel, Harry Potter, Sanrio, and Halo, just to name a few.
The creation of Loot Crate sparked from the idea of “Comic Con in a box”. Now, they have grown into a multi-million-dollar business platform and pride themselves on being a company by fans, for fans. All fandoms have their own culture, tone and personality and Arevalo believes that listening to them is a key aspect to their company.
Getting in the spirit of fandom, Team One got creative and built their own life-size Loot Crate box. At the event, attendees could step into a Loot Crate box and take pictures with the props inside. From a Captain America shield to the Hogwarts sorting hat to real life Storm Troopers, people were able to experience the fandoms that are so critical to Loot Crate’s success.
