| by Bryan DeSena
Team One has hired Jod Kaftan as its Director of Experience Design, beginning November 1. The addition of Kaftan continues the agency’s spell of digital creative growth for accounts across its roster, including Lexus, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company and Häagen Dazs. Kaftan joins Team One after successful stints with BLITZ, Razorfish, AOL and the Los Angeles Times
Kaftan will report to Executive Digital Creative Director Alastair Green.
“The depth of Jod’s understanding of the user journey will make an immediate impact on our work,” said Team One’s Chief Creative Officer Chris Graves. “Jod will lead our UX team through the ever-evolving digital world, ensuring that we continue to create organic, meaningful online experiences for our clients’ customers.”
Kaftan’s career has spanned from writing about architecture for the Los Angeles Times to designing Facebook applications for HBO. As an experienced designer, he earned his stripes at Razorfish where he worked as both an Information Architect and content strategist. At Schematic (now Possible Worldwide), Kaftan worked as a Senior UX Designer where he led design efforts for everything from touchscreen OS concepts for Microsoft to imagineering for Target. He has managed editorial operations for CitySearch and AOL and has been published by Rolling Stone, Los Angeles Times Magazine, Salon, This American Life and The New York Times Book Review. A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, where he studied with Allen Ginsberg, Kaftan sees experience design as a rewarding convergence of all the disciplines he has explored.
